There was a time when we didn’t know for sure if Steele would be added to the 60-day IL, but it became clear about two weeks ago that he would. As for Jack Neely (a reliever the Cubs acquired for Mark Leiter Jr.), it’s a bit of a disappointment because he’s right there on the cusp. But with Seiya Suzuki out/another vacancy created, the Cubs needed to open up a 40-man spot beyond just Steele’s IL move. Alas.
