No. 16-ranked Alabama men’s golf finished runner-up at the Linger Longer Invitational at the Great Waters Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Eatonton, Georgia.
“There were a lot of things that we can build off from this tournament,” head coach Jay Seawell said. “There were many positives that we can take away, and I think we are really close to playing winning golf.”
Sophomore William Jennings led the way for the Crimson Tide, finishing in second place, shooting 13-under-par over the 54-hole event. In Round 1, Jennings carded a 68 4-under-par, followed by a 66 6-under-par day two, and concluded his tournament with a 3-under-par round of 69.
It wasn’t just Jennings who had an outstanding tournament as the captain; senior Jonathan Griz and graduate student Connor Brown each finished tied for ninth place with tournaments of 6-under-par.
Brown shot a 2-under-par round of 70 to kick off his tournament, followed by a 2-over-par round of 74. He then shot a 6-under-par round of 66 on the final day to propel himself into the top 10.
Griz finished under par in all three rounds, shooting 711-under-par on day one and two, then concluded his tournament with a 4-under-par round of 68.
“It was great to see Connor’s performance and also great to see Griz earning a top 10 finish,” Seawell said. “Of course, William continues to play solid for us.”
Sophomore Nicholas Gross under performed to start his tournament, shooting a 3-over-par, 75 in Round 1, followed by a 74, 2-over-par. He finished strong with a 1-under-par 71 to finish tied for 45th place.
Junior Brycen Jones began his tournament strongly with a 3-under-par round of 69, followed by a 2-over-par round of 74. He finished his event tied for 57th with a 6-over-par 78.

“There were a lot of things that we can take away from this weekend,” Seawell said. “As a head coach, I understand that as competitors, our team has to get better and continue to put in the work so we can get better, but this was a step in the right direction.”
The Crimson Tide will be back in action next week on March 30 and 31 for a 54-hole event at the Maridoe Intercollegiate, hosted by North Texas in Carrollton, Texas.
