Former American Idol contestant Caleb C. Flynn is now facing additional charges in connection with the murder of his wife, Ashley Flynn, that happened in February.

Ashley was found dead inside of their Tipp City, Ohio, home after Caleb, 39, initially claimed there was a break-in at the residence in the early hours of February 16.

Caleb was arrested three days later on February 19 on several charges, including one count of murder, two counts of felonious assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of tampering with evidence.

More than one month later, a formal indictment was filed in Miami County Common Pleas court on Wednesday, March 18, and revealed that he is now facing two additional counts of witness intimidation, two additional counts of murder and one count of aggravated murder, according to People.

Caleb was accused of attempting to intimidate someone who witnessed the crime in the indictment, according to the outlet. While he was charged with two counts, it was not immediately clear if he allegedly intimidated more than one witness.

The indictment stated that the alleged offense took place between February 16 and February 18, which were the days between when Ashley died and when Caleb was arrested.

Authorities did not share additional details pertaining to the charge, such as who he was accused of trying to intimidate.

In total, Caleb has been charged with one count of aggravated murder, three counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, three counts of tampering with evidence and two counts of intimidation of a witness, per the indictment.

Caleb pleaded not guilty to all charges during an arraignment held on Thursday, March 19, according to court records.

Ashley and Caleb shared two daughters, who were both at their family’s home at the time of her death.

“Ashley brought endless light to our world, and we are trying to navigate this immense loss,” her family said in a statement, according to People.

The family also said that they believed Caleb’s arrest “was made carefully and not without serious consideration,” adding that they felt “the process is being handled appropriately.”

Shortly after Ashley’s death, the Tipp City Police Department released body camera footage on March 2 that showed Caleb’s immediate reaction when officers told him that she died.

Caleb repeatedly cried and sobbed, while he also called Ashley’s mother and said, “Ashley’s gone … Ashley’s gone.”

“She’s gone, someone broke in and shot her,” he added during the phone call.

Caleb previously competed on season 12 of American Idol in 2013. During his time on the show, he told viewers that he had a “very, very pretty wife” and that he loved her “more than anything.”

Caleb is being represented by L. Patrick Mulligan, who previously told Us Weekly via email that he was looking “forward to defending this case.”

“We are both disappointed and concerned about the short timeline and seeming rush to judgment in this case,” Mulligan said. “When the government runs out of leads or can’t develop leads and looks at a surviving spouse in cases such as these, the chance of a wrongful conviction increases.”
