KD Passes MJ, Kingston Flemings Talks D-Rose, 2 Lottery Picks? And Other Bulls Bullets ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

Happy Sunday, Bulls fans, and welcome to the final day of the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament.

We had a packed slate of college games last night, and it might be time to start watching a little more closely, especially with how well the Portland Trail Blazers have been playing, if you catch my drift. We already have one top-five player with a connection to the Chicago Bulls, and soon, we might find ourselves hoping for another.

Now, let’s talk Bulls basketball.

Last night, the Houston Rockets hosted the Miami Heat, and history was made. No, Bam Adebayo didn’t drop another 80 (still kind of crazy that even happened), but Kevin Durant passed Michael Jordan on the all-time scoring list with a corner three. It’s wild to think that not too long ago, MJ was third on the NBA’s all-time scoring list, and now he sits at sixth. KD celebrated by throwing up five on one hand to show he’s now fifth all-time, and on the other… either the Texas Longhorns men’s basketball “Hook ’em Horns” sign or maybe even a subtle nod to the Chicago Bulls logo, since it was MJ he passed, I don’t know.

— NBA (@NBA) March 22, 2026 That wasn’t the only damage KD did on the night. The 37-year-old forward finished with 27 points on great efficiency and even looked to add a few more at the buzzer with a potential game-winner. He missed, but his teammate Amen Thompson was right there to tip it in at the horn, sealing the win for Houston over Miami and making sure KD’s big night didn’t end in a loss.

— Houston Rockets (@HoustonRockets) March 22, 2026 Speaking of Houston, the Houston Cougars are headed back to the Sweet 16 after dominating the Texas A&M Aggies last night, 88–57. And while Kingston Flemings didn’t need a big night to secure that win, his season as a whole has been exceptional, averaging 16 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and nearly two steals per game. He joined a Cougars squad that had its heart ripped out in last year’s national title game and helped reignite real championship hopes this season.Flemings was born in San Antonio in 2007, but in a conversation with MGSportstalk, he revealed the player he grew up watching, and you’ll love the answer. Hint: the youngest MVP in NBA history.

“My favorite player was D Rose,” Flemings said. “I looked up to him. I wore number 1 my whole life up until here because of D Rose… I loved watching D Rose growing up, I had his shoes and everything.”

It’s kind of wild to think about, considering Flemings would’ve been about a year old during Derrick Rose’s rookie season and only three or four when he won MVP. But stylistically, you can see it, the burst, the shiftiness, that downhill speed. And if he grew up a Rose fan, there’s a good chance he grew up a Chicago Bulls fan too, which, hey, you can only hope is foreshadowing where he ends up next.

Kingston Flemings told me his favorite NBA player was Derrick Rose & looked up to him.“I wore #1 my whole life up until here cause of D Rose…I loved watching D Rose growing up, I had his shoes & everything.”Fav player right now: Cade Cunningham “I think he’s up there in the… pic.twitter.com/gXb7IzUC9B

— Maanav Gupta (@MGSportsTalk) March 21, 2026 The Chicago Bulls will have a chance to pick Kingston Flemings if their own selection, currently projected to land in the top nine, holds. But what if I told you that might not be the only pick they’re working with? The Bulls also own a lottery-protected first-round pick from the Portland Trail Blazers in what’s shaping up to be a loaded 2026 NBA Draft. And right now, Portland is starting to find a rhythm, on a three-game win streak and 6–4 in their last 10. They’re currently tied for the eighth seed, and if they can hold onto that spot heading into the play-in, it gives them two chances to punch a playoff ticket, meaning two chances to send that pick to Chicago. If you’re a Bulls fan hoping this rebuild really starts to accelerate, you should absolutely be rooting for Portland to make the playoffs.
