Cynthia Bailey is giving credit where credit is due, praising The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast for how they are supporting Mary Cosby during her grieving journey.
“Shoutout to her cast. Those ladies really showed up for her in such a real way,” Bailey, 59, exclusively shared with Us Weekly at the Reality TV Greats dinner hosted by Threads and Dear Media on Wednesday, March 18, at Alba in West Hollywood. “I just have so much respect for the way those girls rallied around Mary because when you go through stuff, the thing you have to realize is we have our community, we have our family, but our TV family. We probably see them more than we see our family.”
The Real Housewives of Atlanta star continued, “It was really great to see them come together and just love on her and support her.”
Us confirmed in February that Mary’s son, Robert Cosby Jr., was found dead after authorities responded to a possible overdose. He was 23.
What to Know About 'RHOSLC' Season 7 After the Death of Mary Cosby's Son
Bravo host Andy Cohen later confirmed that a funeral service was held for Robert Jr. on March 7. The RHOSLC cast was in attendance alongside Bailey, Kyle Richards and Shereé Whitfield.
“That whole situation was just heartbreaking. That is her only child,” Bailey shared with Us when discussing the tragic events. “[My daughter] Noelle is my one and only, so it really kind of hit me hard. The news of Mary’s son passing really hit hard, because that’s her one and only. I have an only child as well.”
Away from any cameras, Bailey said she has become “great friends” with Mary, 53, and didn’t hesitate to reach out with a phone call when she learned about Robert Jr.’s death.
“I didn’t want to overstep. I wanted to give her space, her time, but I just had to pick up the phone and call,” Bailey explained. “And when she picked up, I was like, ‘Oh, my God, you didn’t have to pick up. I just wanted to give you my condolences, and I’m praying and all the things.’ With that said, she said, ‘I would love for you to come.’”

“It was something you just had to be there for, and I love that it was private,” Bailey said. “There were no cameras. We don’t have any pictures together. … It just really took us to another phase, another level, of our friendship. If something like that — God forbid — happened to me, I would love that kind of support as well.”
While stepping out for Threads and Dear Media’s Reality Greats dinner, Bailey was able to celebrate the reality TV genre with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stars Kathy Hilton and Sutton Stracke, “Humble Brag” podcast cohost Crystal Minkoff and Dear Media podcast hosts Whitney Port and Scheana Shay.
“It feels really good. I’ve been in this space for a while now,” Bailey said. “This is my chapter two of my Cynthia Bailey life. I went from modeling to reality TV, so it has served me well.”
Bravo Stars React to Mary Cosby’s Son Robert Cosby Jr.’s Death
In fact, the former model is gearing up for a brand-new season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Spoiler alert: The “Humble Brag” podcast cohost is not getting along with everyone.
“No, I’m not, but I tried,” she teased with a laugh. “As the creator of the friend contract, you would think, I mean, I always choose peace. But if you want the smoke, then you know, the other side is the 50 Cynt that can come out. 50 Cynt had to be activated a little bit this season. But, I mean, the person wanted it, so I complied.”
The Real Housewives of Atlanta premieres on Bravo Sunday, April 5, at 8 p.m. ET.
