For as flat/mediocre/not ideal as the Blackhawks’ start was against these same MInnesota Wild in Chicago on Tuesday, tonight was the complete opposite. The Hawks had a 23-12 shot attempt advantage and, more impressively, a 13-2 advantage in scoring chances in the opening 20 minutes. They were able to take the lead and hold it as they went to the first intermission.
The game got chippy as the second period progressed, and the Blackhawks importantly scored the game’s second goal and continued to force the action. But the Wild predictably pushed back after the Bedard goal and a knucklepuck that redirected off Ryan Greene‘s stick beat Spencer Knight and Minnesota cut the lead in half.
With 14:13 left in regulation, the Blackhawks went down 5-on-3 with André Burakovsky and then Greene in the penalty box for 1:35 together. The Wild hit a post three times — but did not score and the Blackhawks survived being short-handed two guys for an extended period. And the Hawks held on to finally beat the Wild.
Star 1: Connor Bedard
Bedard went full showtime in the second period with the takeaway, shielded the puck and flipped the backhand shot into the net to extend the Blackhawks’ lead. And then another chirp for the folks in the expensive seats. Love to see it. When the Hawks got a power play late in the third period, Bedard was firing the puck at will at the net. Bedard now has a point in his last seven games against the Wild.

The Wild’s 19-game point streak against the Blackhawks ends tonight thanks in large part to exceptional goaltending from Knight. There was some drama with less than two seconds left in regulation but he clearly kept the puck out of the net as the clock went to zero.
Star 3: Ilya Mikheyev
Mikheyev scored the Blackhawks’ first goal of the night and once again played a terrific defensive game. Inside the final two minutes of regulation with the Minnesota cage empty, he beat an icing to kill some time off the clock.

Kirill Kaprizov did not play for Minnesota. The Wild announced he’s day-to-day with a lower-body injury. The Blackhawks went with seven defensemen in the lineup tonight, skating Matt Grzelcyk in place of Sam Lafferty. Tyler Bertuzzi had a breakaway with just under eight minutes left in regulation and hit the post. He then took out his frustration on his stick. That would have been a huge goal. Wyatt Kaiser was really good again tonight. And when Ryan Hartman shockingly (sarcasm) took a cheap shot at Bedard in the second period, Kaiser jumped in and mixed it up. After the Hawks carried the action in the first, the Wild flipped the numbers in the second. But the Blackhawks did a decent job of limiting their good chances. Minnesota had a 20-12 shot attempt advantage and 14-6 shots on net advantage, but the scoring chances were only 6-5 for the Wild. Skating with Alex Vlasic for most of the night again, Artyom Levshunov was really good — again. Since the Olympics, he’s been noticeably more physical every night and that’s translated into better all around play. Ethan Del Mastro didn’t get much ice time (only 5:29 thru the first two periods) but I liked him playing with a physical edge tonight, too. Take playing with an edge as the biggest takeaway from tonight’s game. Everyone on the Blackhawks showed up and didn’t back down from anything. And they got the win against a very good Minnesota team.Hence then, the article about blackhawks 2 wild 1 three stars key takeaways was published today ( ) and is available on Bleacher Nation ( Middle East ) The editorial team at PressBee has edited and verified it, and it may have been modified, fully republished, or quoted.
