Why are our supposedly tanking Chicago Bulls now 4-4 during the month of March? What will it take for Billy Donovan to trot out doomed five-guard lineups for all 12 minutes of his fourth quarters?
On Wednesday night, fresh off a 132-107 decimation of the more successfully tanking Memphis Grizzlies, Chicago will play host to a good team in a mini-funk, the Toronto Raptors.
While Scottie Barnes and co. are riding a two-game win streak (including a dub Sunday against the East’s top-seeded Detroit Pistons), the Raptors have won just four of their last 10 games overall.

Bulls Ride ANOTHER Giddey Triple-Double to Unfortunate 132-107 Win Over Taj’s Grizzlies — March 16, 2026What To Watch For
Although the Raptors haven’t been winning as much as they’d like to in a crowded conference playoff picture, swingman RJ Barrett has quietly been stepping up his scoring across the last 10 contests. During that stretch, the Toronto native has been averaging 22.0 points on .558/.380/.690 shooting splits, 6.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 0.7 swipes per. While All-Star Barnes is a plus defender on this Toronto lineup, starters Barrett, Brandon Ingram and Jakob Poeltl can be vulnerable on that end of the court. If Donovan still wants to win games (although, again, he really shouldn’t), it’d behoove his Bulls to target those three in play actions. Nick Richards definitely has a quickness edge on Poeltl, while Guerschon Yabusele’s 3-point shooting could drag him out of the paint and free up cutting lanes for the dynamic slashing of Matas Buzelis, Josh Giddey and Tre Jones. “Danger” Rob Dillingham’s long range sniping has looked steadier of late. Dillingham has gone 5-of-12 from deep (41.6 percent) across his last two bouts, after going a cumulative 7-of-32 (21.9 percent) from beyond the arc in his first 14 games for Chicago. Is this a real change or just a fluky streak? With Jaden Ivey still out indefinitely, eyeballs have understandably turned to Dillingham and Leonard Miller as the two remaining healthy Chicago trade deadline additions who can be under team control next season. So little improvements like this from the former lottery pick Dillingham are (semi) exciting.Injury Report
