The parents of a missing college student from suburban Chicago made a desperate plea to find their son who disappeared while visiting friends in Barcelona, Spain.
James “Jimmy” Gracey, 20, is from Elmhurst, a third-year student at the University of Alabama and a graduate of Saint Ignatius College Prep in Chicago. According to family members, Gracey was last seen by a friend at around 3 a.m. Tuesday at Shôko, a beachfront nightclub.
In a Facebook post, Gracey’s mother said he didn’t return to the bed and breakfast where he was staying.
She also said police were in possession of his phone, but it was unclear how they obtained it. According to family, Gracey was visiting friends who were studying in Barcelona.
He was last seen wearing a white shirt, dark pants and a gold rhinestone cross.
Gracey is approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 175 pounds.

A University of Alabama spokesperson shared the following statement to NBC Chicago regarding Gracey’s disappearance:
“James Paul Gracey is a UA student on a personal trip. UA staff are in touch with the family and those associated with them to offer support and assistance in any way possible.”
