Alabama’s Aden Holloway no longer with team after marijuana arrest, per report ...Middle East

News by : (SATURDAY DOWN SOUTH) -

Alabama guard Aden Holloway is no longer a part of the Crimson Tide as they get ready for the NCAA Tournament later this week, according to a report late Monday afternoon by ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

According to reports, Holloway was arrested on Monday morning on charges of first-degree possession of marijuana as well as failure to affix a tax stamp. More than a pound of marijuana, paraphernalia and cash were found at a residence after a search conducted by the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force.

The 21-year-old Holloway has also been removed from campus after the arrest, the university announced, in addition to his current status with the Alabama basketball team.

Thamel posted on his social media that Holloway “is not going to be with the team as the UA Office of Student Conduct investigates his case. He’ll be off the team until he goes through the school’s investigation process.”

Holloway is a huge part of what makes the Alabama basketball team go, with the junior transfer from Auburn being the Crimson Tide’s second-leading scorer at 16.8 points per game.

Of his 28 games played this season, Holloway has started 27 of them, and he averages 28.5 minutes per contest. Holloway is also shooting 48.1% from the field this season, and he’s averaging 2.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists.

The Holloway arrest and removal from the team at the current time comes on the day after Alabama was selected as a No. 4 seed in the Midwest Region. The Crimson Tide will face No. 13 seed Hofstra in a first-round NCAA Tournament game on Friday afternoon in Tampa, and now they’ll have to deal with the ultimate uncertainty surrounding one of their best players as March Madness kicks into high gear.

With Holloway not a current part of the NCAA Tournament picture for Alabama, here is what the Kalshi market is saying about the Crimson Tide’s first-round tournament game against Hofstra:
