On Sept. 26, 2025, brothers Blake, Billy, and Brandon Putman made a two-hour trip from their Caro, Michigan home with their spouses, kids, and parents to cheer on Blake's 15-year-old son Noah at a football game.
"He hit my door, and how God allowed me to be where I am today, I'm not really sure," Blake, who was driving the vehicle, told People. "I remember the entire thing: I remember the car hitting us. I remember being on the road. I remember a lot of scenes inside the vehicle."
"Megan had her arms around me when he hit us, and my dad was sleeping," Blake said. "My mom and dad and Megan, they died on the scene. The autopsy said that they were immediately gone. There was no saving them."

The survivors all suffered serious injuries. Lulu had a pelvic fracture, Alena had a clavicle fracture, and both Noah and Gia had traumatic brain injuries. Blake also said he had a "couple broken bones" in his neck, a broken nose, and a few lacerations.
"If she would've went by ambulance, she wouldn't have made it," Brandon said. "Her spleen went through her diaphragm and up into the left side of her chest. She broke her clavicle and broke her left humerus, which is not very funny—I got to throw a little bit of dad jokes in there—but it's a miracle."
"She said mom for the first time last week," Brandon said of his daughter, who has a tracheostomy and is learning to communicate with the Tobii Dynavox eye gaze device. "It's like a newborn baby."
"A lot of people, when we had our TV show, judged our family for how we lived our lives, and a lot of people wanted to twist it into that we were a cult or swingers," Brandon said. "Through this tragedy, I think it opened up a lot of people's eyes to the unbelievable companionship and togetherness that people need in times like this. It's sad that it took a tragedy like this for a lot of people to understand how great our family is and the strength of taking care of each other."
"At the funeral, a lot of people came up to us, like, 'Wow. To see how you guys responded to the driver by gifting him a Bible and giving him forgiveness, that strengthened my faith,'" Brandon said. "Well, the feeling's mutual. That was our goal when we had our show."
