Wisconsin native Kate Lucyshyn will continue her swimming career at Cornell University in the fall of 2026.
A senior at Arrowhead High School in Hartland, Lucyshyn trains with Elmbrook Swim Club and specializes in freestyle, excelling particularly in the 100 free.

Lucyshyn was a 2025 WIAA Girls Division 1 State Championship (SCY) finalist for Arrowhead in November, setting two lifetime bests. She placed 3rd in the 100 free (51.00) and 4th in the 200 free (1:51.24). Additionally, she helped her team place 4th in the 200 free relay, anchoring in 23.38, and in the 400 free relay, leading off in 51.03.
In January, Lucyshyn clocked several PBs at the 2026 Patriot Pride Prelim/Final (SCY) while representing Elmbrook Swim Club. She finished 4th in the 100 free (51.96), 5th in the 50 free (24.09), 5th in the 200 free (1:53.38), 5th in the 500 free (5:09.87), 7th in the 200 IM (2:09.83), 11th in the 100 back (58.91), and 19th in the 100 fly (59.40). She earned personal bests during the prelims in the 50 free (23.94) and 100 back (58.48) and during the finals in the 100 fly, 200 IM, and 500 free.

Lucyshyn’s fastest 100 free time would have tied for the third quickest for Cornell this season, indicating she has the potential to be a strong contributor to the 400 free relay as well. The top 100 free time (50.21) for the team came from senior Jung Min Yoon.
Recruits Sarah Carrico, Anna Nishnianidze, Mae Winardi, Amy Chai, and Abby Lee will also head to campus in the fall of 2026. Lucyshyn holds the fastest 100 free time of the group.
