Chicago police have arrested a 75-year-old man on suspicion he shot and killed two women in the Washington Heights neighborhood Saturday.
According to authorities, officers were called to a residence in the 10400 block of South Peoria just before 11 p.m. Saturday for a report of shots fired.
When officers arrived they found a 71-year-old woman and a 68-year-old woman, both of whom had been shot in the chest.
Both women were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The 68-year-old victim has been identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as Phyllis Goolsby, and her manner of death was listed as a homicide.
Officers at the scene took a 75-year-old man into custody and recovered a weapon at the scene, police said.
Charges are pending in the case, and no further information was immediately available.
