Buildings around the Dubai Marina were evacuated on Saturday after debris from a missile interception damaged the facade of a high-rise building in the city.
CNN employees were among those evacuated.
In a statement posted on social media, the Dubai Media Office reported that there were no injuries.
The statement read: “The competent authorities in Dubai dealt with an incident resulting from debris falling on the facade of a tower in the Dubai Marina area, as a result of a successful aerial interception. No injuries were reported.”
The Dubai Marina is located near many of the city’s major tourist attractions and institutions, including the American University in Dubai and Dubai Marina Mall.
Residents of Dubai and Abu Dhabi received warnings on their mobile phones about incoming missiles.
These strikes came shortly after remarks by the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in which he described Iran as “the enemy.”
“The UAE is beautiful, the UAE is a role model, but I tell them, don’t be deceived by the UAE. The UAE is tough and resilient, and we are not easily taken advantage of. We will fulfill our duty towards our country, our people, and our residents. May God protect the UAE, its people, and all those within it with dignity and security,” he added.
