Tyler Higbee will continue his NFL journey with the only team he’s known, as the veteran tight end agreed to a deal Thursday to return to the Rams, a source confirmed. Higbee, 33, will return on a two-year deal worth up to $8 million, according to reports.
A fourth-round draft pick in 2016, Higbee has spent his entire 10-year career with the Rams, making him the longest-tenured player on their roster. He’s developed in that time into a key leader in the locker room and has served intermittently as a team captain.
In 2025, Higbee dealt with an ankle issue for much of the year and missed seven games. In his 10 regular-season contests, he caught 25 passes for 281 yards.
The Rams’ tight end room underwent a renaissance in 2025, with the team featuring three-tight end sets – or 13-personnel – at a rate that lapped the rest of the NFL. With Higbee back in the fold, the Rams are expected to include all four of their key tight ends from last season with Colby Parkinson, Davis Allen and Terrance Ferguson under contract.
With that core back, it stands to reason the Rams will try to continue their use of 13-personnel, especially after head coach Sean McVay’s comments when asked about the package on Tuesday.
“I think if you have the guys that can bring it to life,” McVay said. “We had depth at the tight end spot. It was favorable for us. … We’ve got to continue to adapt, adjust and evolve. You certainly talk about those things, but you have to have the players that allow you to be able to be in that personnel grouping with the depth at that position. We had that and we’ll be hopeful that we have it this year, but if you had asked me this time last year, I wouldn’t have envisioned it being as much of a high-volume priority.”
