Kentucky basketball head coach Mark Pope told reporters Thursday afternoon that Wildcats forward Kam Williams was set to practice on Thursday.
Williams has been off the court for Kentucky since mid-January with a broken foot, which required surgery. Before Willaims’ injury, he was averaging just under 7 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.
Pope originally told reporters that there was a chance Williams would be able to return before the end of the season, and it appears that may still be on the table. However, Pope remained non-committal on his status moving forward and insisted Williams would have to see how his foot responds to full action before he sees the court.
“It’s kind of a race to the finish line here,” he said. “A lot of it will depend on how Saturday feels and how the SEC Tournament goes…. we’re going to see if we can slip him into a little bit of practice today.”
Pope was later asked to provide more surrounding Williams and said, “I love the fact that he’s dying to play right now. He’s dying to play. He’s doing everything he can to get in.”

The Wildcats have one more game remaining in the 2026 regular season, and it’s a dang big one. Kentucky faces off against Florida looking for a significant addition to its NCAA Tournament resume. The Wildcats would need some help from Vanderbilt and Arkansas, but Kentucky is in play for a double-bye in the SEC tournament with a win on Saturday, too.
