Leuzinger quarterback Russell Sekona, who helped the Olympians reach the CIF-SS Division 2 semifinals last season, has enrolled at Mater Dei, his father Toni confirmed Wednesday.
Sekona, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound sophomore, passed for a combined 3,300 yards and 38 touchdowns the past two seasons.
He was slowed in the fall by a hand injury but returned for the playoffs. Leuzinger beat Crean Lutheran and Chaparral before losing in the semifinals to San Clemente.
Sekona has been offered by Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, Arkansas, Colorado State and Hawaii.
Chaminade quarterback Cameron Pooley (6-3, 215) also has transferred to Mater Dei, the junior recently confirmed. He passed for 1,097 yards and 10 touchdowns last season.
In 2025, Mater Dei featured senior quarterback Ryan Hopkins, who signed with Wisconsin.
Furian Inferrera, Hopkins’ backup, has transferred to Mission Hills, the junior confirmed. He is committed to Minnesota.
