Social media had some thoughts on a new video showing the CEO of McDonald’s trying the fast food giant’s newest burger.
McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski shared footage of his own “taste test” of the Chicago-based chain’s “Big Arch” burger. The video was actually posted three weeks ago, but began gaining traction as the new burger, which has been popular in international markets, made its U.S. debut Tuesday.
In the video, Kempczinski describes the burger as a “product” and notes that he is only tasting it as he plans to have the rest for lunch.
“I love this product. It is so good,” says at the beginning of the video.
He then goes on to describe some of the ingredients before taking a bite.
Commenters were quick to note, however, the size of the bite and the repeated use of the word “product.”
“That was the smallest first bite I’ve ever seen,” one user wrote.
“It Scares me when you call food ‘product,'” another commented.
“Man’s aura screams kale salad,” one said.
“Me, age 10, when my parents told me to eat my veggies,” another wrote.
Kempczinski has not appeared to address the comments on social media.
The Big Arch Burger was set to hit menus nationwide on March 3, with the company calling it the “most McDonald’s, McDonald’s burger” yet.
According to the fast food chain, the burger is crafted to provide “a premium flavor experience that delivers BIG with every bite.”
“It’s distinctively McDonald’s,” Kempczinski said in his video.
Consisting of two quarter-pound beef patties and three slices of melted white cheddar cheese, the Big Arch Burger has the following toppings:
Crispy and slivered onions Fresh lettuce Tangy pickles Toasted buns, featuring sesame and poppy seeds Big Arch Sauce – which McDonald’s describes as “a tangy, creamy sauce with a perfect balance of mustard, pickle and sweet tomato flavors”While McDonald’s said the burger will be at participating restaurants nationwide, it’s unclear how long it will remain on the menu.
The Big Arch Burger returned to menus in Ireland and the United Kingdom this year after, according to the chain, customers “made it clear they loved the unmistakably McDonald’s taste.”
It will remain a permanent fixture on menus there.
