The 15-year-old cyclist who was hit by Greeley Police Chief Adam Turk while he was driving an unmarked vehicle in February faces charges for failing to yield.

The boy was charged with failure to yield right-of-way upon entering a highway, a charge that is used when entering a roadway from anyplace other than a road, according to a Colorado State Patrol news release.

There are no pending charges for Turk, according to the release. He was also not on any limited duty during the investigation, according to a Greeley police spokesperson.

On Feb. 15, Turk was driving westbound on West 26th Street in a Chevrolet Tahoe, when the 15-year-old boy tried to cross the street and failed to yield. The Tahoe struck the cyclist, and he was taken to the hospital and later released. The extent of his injuries was not included in the release.

The boy was going north on a non-paved multi-use trail in Josephine Jones Park, 2631 52nd Avenue Court, according to a February news release. He was struck north of the park.
