Three soccer teams from the Daily News area earned spots in CIF Southern Section championship games, but only two of those teams got to play Saturday.

Calabasas’ boys team withdrew from the CIF-SS Division 3 title game Friday and forfeited Saturday’s final to Los Alamitos. According to a press release from the CIF-SS, Calabasas self-reported that it had discovered one of its players was ineligible player during the postseason. The violation automatically gave Los Alamitos the section title.

The girls teams for Buckley and Crescenta Valley both made it to the CIF-SS finals, but both teams lost in their games by 4-0 scores.

CITY SECTION GIRLS SOCCER 

In the L.A. City Section, Cleveland’s girls soccer team took home the Open Division crown with a 1-0 win over Granada Hills Charter.

The Cavaliers had lost to the Highlanders last year in the Open title match.

Birmingham’s girls team defeated Banning in penalty kicks to claim the Division I title.

Patriots keeper Karla Dado made multiple saves in penalty kicks to help Birmingham seal the championship.

In the Division III championship, Marquez emerged victorious against Verdugo Hills. After playing to a scoreless tie in regulation and overtime, Marquez won 3-1 in penalty kicks.

Sun Valley Poly and Monroe, who are East Valley League foes, clashed in the City Division IV final, their third meeting this season. The Parrots beat the Vikings 1-0 for the championship.

CITY SECTION BOYS SOCCER

In the City Section boys finals, El Camino Real earned its second straight title in the Open Division with a win over Birmingham at Pasadena City College.

Regulation and overtime couldn’t decide a winner. The Royals prevailed in PKs.

Chatsworth won the City Division I title to add another highlight to its most successful season in years. Chatsworth hadn’t won a playoff game in four years, but caught fire this season. In the final, Chatsworth defeated Cleveland 2-1.

North Hollywood won the City Division III title by defeating Sun Valley Magnet 2-0 in the championship game.

North Hollywood’s defense finished the City playoffs with a 13-2 goal differential.

The CIF Regional playoff brackets will be released Sunday.
