BOULDER — Dozens of firefighters are on the scene of a wildfire burning Saturday near Chautauqua Park in Boulder. Smoke can be seen along the Flatirons in southwestern Boulder. Firefighters have dubbed it the Bluebell fire.
As of 2 p.m. the Bluebell fire was estimated at 5 acres. There are more than 50 firefighters on scene and 1 helicopter is dropping water, according to the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control.
Emergency officials have issued an evacuation warning for the Chautauqua Cottages area.
A news conference is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Saturday for updates from the Boulder Fire-Rescue department.
Fire conditions are high with temperatures in the mid-60s and strong winds. Parts of northern Colorado are under a red flag warning, but Boulder County is not listed in the area under warning.
