ROCHESTER, N.Y. – We had plenty of sunshine for this final day of February. The temperature reached 50 degrees this morning, which was the warmest weather for the entire month. However, a cold front has moved across Western New York and the temperature has been falling with much colder temperatures returning for the remainder of the weekend.
Even though much of the snow has melted over the last few days, an areawide new snowfall will be returning after midnight tonight. This snow will dwindle to flurries and snow showers on Sunday morning. The News10NBC First Alert meteorologists anticipate this will be a minor amount of accumulation with most locations seeing an inch or less accumulation. As mentioned earlier, you can expect a much colder weather with temperature remaining in the lower 20s for Sunday. At this time, our News10NBC Threat Tracker will remain green for this upcoming week.
The chill will last for Monday, but the weather pattern will be changing through the upcoming week. We anticipate a gradual warming trend through the week as we reach the 50s by Thursday or Friday. In fact, the temperature could be pushing 60 degrees at some point for this next weekend.
