Day 39 of the Chicago Bears offseason. Today marks 11 years of yours truly at BN. So I wanted to use this space to offer up my thanks to Brett and Michael (who is also celebrating 11 years with Bleacher Nation today!), as well as my sincerest gratitude to you, the reader. Thanks for being here with me all these years. I look forward to many more, so long as the Bears don’t send me to an early grave because of their heartburn-inducing tactics.
The latest on the Bears stadium situation is here. Every update that doesn’t include shovels going into the ground makes me feel more and more like the Popeyes chicken lady meme. At this point, my big request moving forward (when it comes to Bears stadium news) is that the team doesn’t announce anything major when things get hot and heavy in free agency (as they did a few years ago with their announcement of plans to build in Chicago) or right before Round 1 of the upcoming NFL Draft (which is what they did the day before drafting Caleb Williams first overall in 2024). On the field, the Bears are trying to build something special. Bears GM Ryan Poles has big offseason plans. Ben Johnson has his eyes on building another postseason contender in Year 2 as the team’s head coach. Let the team (and its fans) have those moments. Hit us up with stadium chatter at literally any other time. Except during the Cubs’ home opener. I’ve got big plans that day, and the last thing the baseball fans in town need is a football-adjacent distraction that is probably years from completion. Mandatory Credit: David Banks-Imagn Images Side note: I appreciate Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio opining that the best outcome, in his view, would be a new stadium in Chicago. Putting aside all biases, Florio isn’t wrong. It would be ideal to have a new stadium surrounded by all the bells and whistles in a centrally located spot with ample parking and viable public transportation options. I can’t imagine that anyone, in good faith, would argue that would be a bad thing. That the team didn’t work harder to create that type of thing will always bug me, but that is a different post for another day.PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO THE PODCAST: Apple | Spotify | YouTube
Whenever the Bears officially leave Soldier Field, I hope there is some real boots-on-the-ground reporting about what ultimately led to the team’s departure. There are stories to be written by people who are in the trenches. And I look forward to reading them whenever they surface. I love that Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is actually taking time off to enjoy the offseason:#Bears QB Caleb Williams makes an appearance in yeat’s new music video doing the iceman celebration : pic.twitter.com/xqTrTRExHR

Hmm: I don’t see the Bears listed in this CBS Sports post as a fit for any running back in any tier of free agency. Perhaps that can be seen as an indication that Chicago’s football team will be running it back with D’Andre Swift in 2026. That would be fine with me. With that being said, I would still like to see this front office add some competition to this group to keep everyone on their toes. OOF: Tyrique Stevenson graded out among the worst perimeter cornerbacks in the NFL last season, according to Pro Football Focus’ data. I still like Stevenson’s potential, but the lack of consistency in his game is something holding me back from having full confidence in him. Finding a reliable cornerback to start opposite Jaylon Johnson in 2026 is an under-the-radar need for the Bears this offseason.MORE BEARS FROM BLEACHER NATION: Go Ad-Free | Subscribe to the BN Newsletter
