Upstairs at the Ambry on 16th Street, things look a little different.
In the first unit on the left, gone are the maroon walls and dark academia decor of the lawyer’s office that used to occupy the space. In its place is just about every color imaginable, from the multicolored hanks of yarn to the handmade creations hanging in the new storefront of Fox & Hare Creations, 716 16th St., in Greeley.
“I have a lot of color floating around everywhere,” founder, owner and everything else at Fox & Hare Creations Bree Evanson said.
Fox & Hare is the brainchild of Evanson, who has made quite the name for herself in the Greeley crafting community since moving from Montana at the end of 2019.
She has been teaching classes and selling her hand-dyed yarn and custom knit and crocheted items at various craft fairs and events — and more permanently at Margie’s Java Joint just down 16th Street.
“I’m trying to do what I call ‘bougie budget,’ so it’s good quality yarn, but it’s not going to break your bank,” Evanson said. “Because we’re all kind of in the same boat right now.”

(Brice Tucker/Staff Photographer)Evanson’s big break, so to speak, actually came across the street from her current shop — at the annual Indie Arts Winter Market held on Small Business Saturday at Atlas Theater, 709 16th St.
“I did a couple times, and the event coordinator (Kelly Langley Cook) also owns the Ambry,” Evanson said. “So we just started talking, and that turned into, ‘Let’s make this dream come true.’ ”
After months of prepping the space — paint and all — Evanson got her first chance to truly see all her work pay off on Feb. 7 with the soft opening of the storefront.
“It was like, ‘Where do I even stand?’ ” she joked. “It was great, there was like 10 or 12 people in here at one point.”
In a room that may have a max capacity of less than a dozen, personal space was definitely at a premium.
Ever since, the store has operated from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays, with a steady stream of customers stopping in to say hello.
“I’m just really excited that people are excited about it,” Evanson said.
Evanson has also continued teaching classes, now at the shop — primarily Tuesday afternoons and Saturday mornings before the store opens.
“When people sign up for a class, those are all off-hours, when the store isn’t open,” she said. “So they have all my attention, and we’re not getting interrupted.”

(Brice Tucker/Staff Photographer)Though the shop is still in its infancy, Evanson has loved every bit of the ride so far, from maintaining her role as the main creator to the trial and error of figuring out all the behind-the-scenes minutiae.
“It’s been a cool adventure so far,” Evanson said. “I’m learning a lot along the way.”
