CUBS LINEUP — The Cubs are back at it in Arizona this afternoon with a matchup against the Angels that will have some audio via the Angels’ broadcast. It’s better than nothing. Matthew Boyd is getting into his second bit of game action, following a 1.2-inning appearance in his debut. He allowed five hits in that one, but also struck out four.
The Angels will counter with José Soriano, who will get the following Cubs lineup.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
Michael Busch, 1B Jeferson Rojas, SS Carson Kelly, C Dylan Carlson, LF Chas McCormick, RF James Triantos, DH Pedro Ramirez, 3B Justin Dean, CF Scott Kingery, SSMichael Busch leads off again, followed by prospect Jefferson Rojas and starting catcher Carson Kelly. After those three, however, there’s a handful of roster hopefuls and bubble players. Realistically, that group boils down to Dylan Carlson, Chas McCormick, and Scott Kingery, all of whom have gotten into a lot of games already this spring.
From what we have been able to watch, I’m not sure anyone has really stood out among those three (oh, and there’s also Michael Conforto, of course), but the sample is still very tiny, and results will likely matter less in this case than the scouting report. But with the recent injury news to Tyler Austin, there is an extra bench spot theoretically up for grabs.
I will note that Scott Kingery, who will start in his fifth game this afternoon, has not really taken advantage of his opportunity yet, going hitless and walkless in his four games so far (with three strikeouts).
Los Angeles Angels Lineup:
Zach Neto, SS Mike Trout, LF Yoan Moncada, 3B Vaughn Grissom, 2B Jose Siri, CF Travis d’Arnaud, C Oswald Peraza, DH Trey Mancini, 1B Gustavo Campero, RFPitching Matchup:
Chicago Cubs: Matthew Boyd, LHP
Los Angeles Angels: José Soriano, RHP

These are so incredibly sick it actually hurts. Just the right amount of shine. Get yours from @homage before they sell out (and they literally always sell out every spring): t.co/4e0biXBDGP pic.twitter.com/5W4CMGa444
