2026 Big 12 Championship
Dates: Tuesday, February 24–Saturday, February 28 Location: Greensboro Aquatic Center, Greensboro, NC Defending champions: Arizona State women (1x); Arizona State men (1x) Live Results Live Video: ESPN + Championship Central Men’s Championship Preview Women’s Championship Preview Teams: Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, Texas Christian, Utah, West Virginia Psych Sheets Live Recaps Prelims: Day 2 Finals: Day 1For those unfamiliar with swimming terminology, the concept of “Ups” and “Downs” is a good way to track which teams performed best at prelims. In prelims, swimmers qualify for one of three finals heats: the top 8 finishers make the A final, places 9 through 16 the B final and places 17 through 24 the C final. In finals, swimmers are locked into their respective final, meaning a swimmer in the B heat (spots 9-16) can only place as high as 9th or as low as 16th, even if they put up the fastest or slowest time of any heat in the final.
With that in mind, we’ll be tracking “Ups,” “Mids” and “Downs” after each prelims session. “Up” refers to swimmers in the A final, “Mid” to swimmers in the B final and “Down” to swimmers in the C final.

Houston, currently in the bottom of the rankings, in part due to a relay DQ last night is expected to collect the 3rd most points on the evening, thanks in part to three swimmers in the A finals, including an impressive two in the 200 IM.
Day 3 Ups/Mids/Downs — Men
Team All (Projected Points) 500 Free (Projected Points) 200 IM (Projected Points) 50 Free (Projected Points) ASU 12/3/3 (383) 2/1/2 (85) 3/1/1 (103) 7/1/0 (195) Utah 7/5/6 (272) 3/1/3 (100) 4/4/1 (167) 0/0/2 (5) Arizona 3/10/1 (227) 2/2/0 (81) 0/2/0 (26) 1/6/1 (120) TCU 0/1/3 (31) 0/0/1 (7) 0/0/1 (2) 0/1/1 (17) BYU 1/3/4 (94) 1/2/0 (55) 0/1/1 (25) 0/0/3 (14) Cincinnati 1/1/2 (46) 0/1/1 (15) 1/0/0 (25) 0/0/1 (6) WVU 0/1/5 (33) 0/1/1 (19) 0/0/4 (14) 0/0/0 (0)The ASU men are expected to only continue to distance themselves from the competition as they advanced 18 swimmers into finals tonight, including 12 A-finals, which is exactly half of the available spots. Utah like the Arizona women, equaled their rivals’ feat, with an impressive 18 returning tonight, but were much more spread out across the three finals, with seven in the A, five in the B and 6 in the C. Utah is projected to outscore ASU across the first two events, the 500 free and 200 IM, but are likely to be walloped in the 50 free, where they advanced only two into the C-final, whereas the Sun Devils put seven in the A and one into the B. The Utes are projected to outscore Arizona, who despite earning 14 second swims, struggled to advance swimmers into the points heavy A-final, placing only three into the A-final, while having 10 make the B-finals, six of whom will throw down in the 50 free B-final.
