After last year’s reported extension talks didn’t quite get over the finish line, and after recent comments about simply wanting to get a “fair deal” from the Chicago Cubs if there were ever an extension, I’m very happy that the Foul Territory guys asked Pete Crow-Armstrong about an extension today while they were visiting Cubs camp. It’s definitely something at the top of my mind right now.
This very much sounds like a guy who wants to be with the Cubs for a very, very long time:

Now, technically, we knew there were previous talks last spring, but this to me sounded like more recent conversations. Is that how you heard it, too?
To be clear, this isn’t PCA saying he thinks a deal will get done, and he was careful not to venture over into that territory. He simply indicated that, yes, there will be talks, yes, he is very happy to be with the Cubs, but no, he’s not tripping over himself trying to get a deal done ASAP. If it happens, great. If not, that’s OK, too, and he’ll keep on playing great ball regardless.
Still, that’s a lot more than most guys would confirm out loud, so I’ll absolutely take it.
