For months, I predicted that republicans would start to turn away from Trump, as the list of presidential abuses of power morphed into cruelty, e.g. the Muslim ban, immigrant family separation, threatening the healthcare coverage of millions under Obamacare, and Trump’s depraved indifference to the victims of the Covid-19 pandemic. I was wrong. Did republicans drink the Kool-Aid because they wanted to believe the worst about their fellow citizens? Us good – them bad?
