A Tuscaloosa woman shot a man multiple times on Sunday. No charges have been filed, as she claims to have shot him in self defense.
Police were dispatched to a shooting in the 600 block of 38th Street Sunday evening at around 7:30 p.m. According to Capt. Jack Kennedy of the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit, the woman reported the two had been in a relationship for several years and that there was a history of domestic abuse, which was confirmed by police.
The women locked herself in an inoperable vehicle in an attempt to get away from the man after an argument and called 911 as he allegedly was beating on the vehicle’s windows in an attempt to break in. He had been shot multiple times when police arrived.
According to Kennedy, the man was “transported to medical” and is currently in critical condition. Since issues of self defense were present no arrest has been made. The case in its entirety will be presented to a grand jury upon completion to determine if any charges will be brought.
