ReMind Magazine reported that Daniels discussed his beloved character in an interview forIcons Unearthed: Unplugged. In the interview, published in February 2026, Daniels shared how 3-CPO's golden look came to be. The actor shared that after it was confirmed he'd be starring in 1977's Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, he was taken to North London's Elstree Studios to get cast in plaster to make 3-CPO's costume. He recalled having to take off his clothes "in front off two strangers" as "buckets of Plaster of Paris" were poured over his body to "make a mold."
He said once a cast of his body was made, the props crew created 3-CPO's costume primarily out of fiberglass.
He said he felt relieved when he was able to take off the costume.
Anthony Daniels Shared How the Crew First Reacted to C-3PO on Set
Daniels made similar comments about C-3PO's suit in a 2020 interview with Wired. He said that being placed into the costume right after his cast was made "was horrible."
