ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A huge winter storm is now in the process of shutting down the I-95 corridor, including the cites of Philadelphia, New York and Boston. This storm of historic proportions will produce blizzard conditions with one to two feet of snow and winds gusting from 45 to 75 miles per hour. Snowfall is likely to accumulate at the rate of two to four inches per hour and these conditions will stop all forms of travel for the next several days.
Western New York will be on the fringe of this storm with just minor accumulations and much less wind. However, there will be a return to winter conditions to start this last week of February. The News10NBC First Alert meteorologists anticipate occasional light snow for the next 72 hours. Snowfall amounts will be minor at first but will gradually increase through mid-week. Tonight, Rochester will see an inch or less, but one to three inches will be likely be south of Thruway. On Monday, another inch or less is probable for Rochester with another one to three inches for communities located to the south. At this time, the News10NBC Threat Tracker will remain green as the overall impact of the snow should be small.
