To the Editor:
I want to know why you published Mark Thiessen’s column last Thursday. It is not journalism. It is fact-free propaganda that is poisonous and a danger to us all.
I remember well the lies that were prelude to every war in my long life. Thiessen’s column just furthers this same failed strategy, without the faintest suggestion that the situation is much more complicated.
Anyone who has been exposed to the whole story is horrified by this process. Thiessen is just mixing a stew of narrative elements that have been dished out of major media in a revolting slop for years.
There are actual journalists in the world who are bravely telling the real story. In a nutshell, Iran is not like any of the smaller countries we’ve attacked. It is well armed with modern weapons, united politically, well educated in western strategy, backed by superpowers, and no longer fooled by fake negotiations. They have made a decision as a people not to take this sh** anymore. One cannot imagine a worse enemy.
The US is no longer militarily preeminent, not by a long shot. We discarded our industrial base and invested borrowed money in very expensive weapons of very questionable utility in a changing world.
Thiessen compares the Venezuela stunt to attacking Iran. This is lunacy. Dear editor, why do you print this stuff? We are sleepwalking into disaster. At least print a rebuttal by someone who is not a shill for the machine. I could suggest a dozen.
