News by : (Los Angeles Daily News) -

Gustavo Dudamel, the beloved conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, returns to the Hollywood Bowl for his final summer season with a run of shows in August, including one that pairs Dudamel and the orchestra with Los Angeles’ hometown hard-rockers the Foo Fighters.

The Hollywood Bowl 2026 season announced Wednesday includes the usual eclectic mix of symphonies and rock bands, jazz nights and film music. But the Celebrating Gustavo shows are sure to be highlights before Dudamel packs his baton and heads off to his new post as the head of the New York Philharmonic.

They include a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and a new piece by composer Michael Giacchino with the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus and lyrics by poet Amanda Gorman on Aug. 20, a show titled Dudamel’s Playlist, which promises his favorite pieces performed by surprise guests on Aug. 21, and the Foo Fighters collaboration on Aug. 22, and night titled A Musical Legacy, which promises a wide variety of genres and performers across Dudamel’s 17 years at the LA Phil on Aug. 23.
