Vučević Gets the Last Laugh: Celtics 124, Bulls 105 – February 11, 2026 ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

The Chicago Bulls have now lost their sixth straight game, this one to the Boston Celtics.

The question I had about who would finish with the better stat line was answered well before the final buzzer. Nikola Vučević posted a double-double: 19 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and a steal on absurd efficiency. Simons, on the other hand… did not.

With this one in the books, the Bulls head into the All-Star break as the eleventh seed in the East (pending what the Bucks do), with a top-ten pick very much in play. The break feels important, especially for fans like us who’ve bought into the tank but still have to sit through the ugliness of losing games strictly on talent gaps.

I’m just hoping that by the time the All-Star break ends, this group starts to look like an actual team, one that can at least control the chaos instead of being swallowed by it.

The Moment the Bulls Lost the Game

The first quarter was relatively close, but in the second, the game completely slipped away. The Boston Celtics turned a nine-point lead into a 29-point advantage before halftime. A 36–17 quarter in Boston’s favor quickly pulled the game out of the new-look Bulls’ hands. It was a two-way punch, offense and defense, as the Celtics poured in 72 points while holding Chicago to just 44.

During that second-quarter run, Chicago fell back into its bad habits, settling for three-point shots the moment things got tough. They shot 1-for-9 from deep in the quarter, erasing the hot start that gave them early life. That opened the door for Boston to do what they do best, capitalize on mistakes that were practically wrapped up and handed to them with a bow.

Jaylen Brown, Sam Hauser, Derrick White, Payton Pritchard, and Jordan Walsh all scored six or more in the quarter, while no Bull managed more than five. Runs like this are starting to feel familiar for this reshuffled roster, which has been playing shorthanded and without much structure, understandable, considering most of these guys were just thrown together this week.

The only silver lining? There was still another half to play. Beyond that, though, the five-game losing streak looked more than ready to become six.

Key Stats and Takeaways

Even before the game began, the fun did. The Chicago Bulls announced, in a now deleted tweet, a pregame starting lineup of Anfernee Simons, Jaden Ivey, Patrick Williams, Matas Buzelis, and Guerschon Yabusele. But when tip-off arrived, one of those starters had been dropped and swapped out. And no, it wasn’t P-Will. Jaden Ivey was replaced by Collin Sexton. Was this just a shake-up for curiosity’s sake, or is Ivey already slipping out of the rotation after a rough first three games? I just hope Billy Donovan hasn’t given up on him that quickly. via @chicagobulls on X (deleted) The Bulls surprised the Celtics early, going 4-for-4 from behind the arc to start the game and building a small five-point lead before Jaylen Brown matched Chicago’s production, keeping things from getting out of hand. A 11-2 run from the Celtics to retake the advantage. But seeing Matas knock down threes was definitely a great sight, especially after the slow start he had in the loss against Brooklyn. There was a lot of action to start the game, and the highlights I know we all wanted to see were the Bulls vs. Nikola Vučević matchups. Matas gave Vooch his first one, swatting away one of his early shots. A biblical teacher-vs.-student moment unfolding right in front of our eyes. The 29-point lead eventually stretched to 30, then 32, and kept climbing, with no real sign of a comeback in sight. Even when the Celtics cooled off in a lower-scoring third quarter, Chicago couldn’t take advantage. They mirrored Boston’s sluggish output instead of cutting into the deficit. It was a flat performance, poor, and honestly, not very exciting to watch.

He’s one guy I figured would’ve seen more minutes by now, purely based on his size and age. But you never really know what’s going on in Billy Donovan’s mind. Rob Dillingham, who’s quickly becoming a fan favorite in Chicago, finished with a team-high 16 points, seven assists, and three steals. He also logged a career-high 30 minutes — the most of any bench player — and shot efficiently, even if it all came a little too late. Bulls fall, 124–105.
