SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey announced on Thursday that a revenue distribution of $1.03 billion was received by the SEC‘s 16 schools for the 2024-25 fiscal year.
The staggering total revenue for the period that ended on Aug. 31, 2025, is an increase of over $200 million in comparison to the 2023-24 cycle, which produced a distribution of $808.4 million.
In a statement released on Thursday following the announcement of the revenue distribution numbers, Sankey said in part:
The SEC’s annual revenue sharing allows member universities to support elite athletics programs, including sustained and meaningful investment in women’s and Olympic sports that enhances opportunities and strengthens resources, while advancing the academic and athletic aspirations of thousands of student-athletes.

The amount that was distributed from the conference office, which includes bowl revenue retained by those participating, averaged $72.4 million for those schools with “full-year financial participation.”
That $72.4 million total per university is about $18.6 million more than the average in 2023-24 of $53.8 million per school for SEC members with full year participation.
