Heavy rain, power cuts and further flooding are set to hit parts of the country that remain saturated following days of downpours in the wake of Storm Chandra.
The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for ice for Northern Ireland, Wales and parts of South-West and South-East England, spanning from Sunday into Monday.
Jonathan Vautrey, a Met Office senior operational meteorologist, told The i Paper: “With wet surfaces following recent rain, and temperatures falling close to or below freezing across western areas of the UK tonight, icy patches will be possible on untreated surfaces for a time on Sunday night into Monday morning.”
The Met Office also said “freezing fog patches may pose an additional hazard”.
Separate yellow warnings for rain have been issued from Monday into Tuesday for parts of South-West England where communities continue to grapple with the aftermath of flooding sparked by Storm Chandra.
The Met Office warned that a “small chance of fast-flowing or deep floodwater” could pose a “danger to life”, while disruption to public transport, road closures, and power cuts were also possible.

Somerset Council has declared a “major incident”, warning that further flooding of homes was possible, particularly in the Moorland, Saltmoor and Currymoor areas.
An entire rugby pitch was submerged in Somerset earlier this week, while trains were cancelled between Taunton and Exeter, causing significant disruption.
The EA had issued 58 flood warnings across England on Sunday, indicating that flooding is expected, while a further 118 flood alerts were in force in areas where flooding was possible.

The second ice warning in Northern Ireland spans from 7pm on Sunday to 9am on Monday.
Meanwhile, a separate yellow warning for rain covering parts of South-West England, including Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Plymouth, Somerset, Torbay, Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole, spans from noon on Monday to 9am on Tuesday.

“Whilst there is some uncertainty, the rain may become persistent, especially later in the day and overnight, before gradually easing and clearing into Tuesday.

“Given saturated ground following recent rain, there is a chance this may lead to some flooding and disruption in places.
He added that the weather is expected to “remain unsettled throughout next week, with showers or longer spells of heavy rain affecting most areas, coupled with brisk winds at times.
“Snow will fall over northern hills as colder air gradually moves in. Continuing rain bands in the south may keep it milder.”
