“Vocally, I thought I sounded a little bit weird in my head. That’s the one cut off the album I didn’t really like that much," Wilson said of "I'm Waiting for the Day."
"But, you know, it’s okay, it’s not a case of liking or not liking it; it was an appropriate song, a very, very positive song. I just didn’t like my voice on that particular song."
"I go to the piano and play (feels)," Wilson explained. "'Feels' are specific rhythm patterns, fragments, or ideas."
Wilson spoke with VICE in 2016, offering his thoughts on the influential album. At that time, Pet Sounds had reached a 50-year milestone, and Wilson was performing the LP in its entirety as part of the Pet Sounds: The Final Performance Tour.
He continued, "I always get excited when something new gets uncovered from that time. I can’t explain, but hearing that again is always so cool."
