ROCHESTER, N.Y. — RMAPI, or the Rochester-Monroe Anti-Poverty Initiative, has developed a list of initiatives for 2026, aiming to break the cycle of poverty for all families. It’s holding a legislative breakfast on Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at REOC.
The organization’s priorities include pushing opportunity-rich affordable neighborhoods, quality health and social care, rewarding work through increasing the NYS minimum wage, and financial security, among other aspects.
RMAPI’s Policy Working Group has helped develop its policies, consisting of local experts, community and government leaders, non-profit agencies, and those who dealt with poverty first-hand, among others.
“RMAPI’s 2026 Policy Agenda reflects what residents have told us directly: progress requires systems change. To sustain upward mobility in Rochester, we must strengthen the policies that work, confront those that don’t, and continue shifting political will toward equity and opportunity,” said Aqua Y. Porter, RMAPI executive director.
