The seventh and last round match of the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy is underway. With quarterfinal qualification on the line, all teams were locked in. Only three matches were televised; that’s why InsideSport brings you the highlights of the first day of action.

Dust till dusk

Mumbai’s excellent bowling display against Delhi’s watered-down team wasn’t the talking point. Or Sanat Sangwan’s 118-run knock. At the BKC Ground, Mumbai players wearing masks was the main story. Sarfaraz Khan, Musheer Khan, and Himanshu Singh were spotted covering their faces. Not because of health concerns but dust.

Thanks to non-strop construction work in the commercial hub where the match is being held, the venue has become quite dusty. No wonder then that multiple Mumbai players, including the likes of Himanshu Singh, Sarfaraz Khan and Musheer Khan, are wearing a mask while fielding… pic.twitter.com/CT1iH06JCA

You see, there was ongoing construction at the venue, which caused caution issues for the Mumbai fielders. It’ll be fascinating to see whether the construction resumes tomorrow. Coming back to Mumbai’s performance, Mohit Avasthi took a 5-wicket haul as Delhi scored just 221. In reply, Divij Mehta took a wicket before the close of play, and Mumbai scored 13/1 in 3 overs.

Siraj’s 4-fer, Prasidh Krishna struggles

Mohammed Siraj, who took just 1 wicket against Mumbai, has picked up a 4-fer on the first day against Chhattisgarh. All the Hyderabad bowlers combined took 5 wickets. Prasidh Krishna, who was playing his first Ranji Trophy match in the 2025-26 season, took just 1 wicket and was Karnataka’s least economical bowler, at 4.10.

The former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player took the wickets of both MP openers and captain Rajat Patidar. He was also involved in a run-out. MP scored 187, and Maharashtra is already 47/1.

Dhruv Jurel misses out on hundred

Harsh Dubey claimed a 6-wicket haul against Uttar Pradesh. Dhruv Jurel played an excellent 96-run knock, which was ended by Vidarbha captain Harsh. The left-arm spinner took four of UP’s top five. As a result, UP managed just 237. In reply, Vidarbha are 33/0 in 10 overs.
