Alabama reportedly finds new offensive line coach ...Middle East

News by : (The Crimson White) -

Alabama football is expected to hire Adrian Klemm for its vacant offensive line coach position according to multiple reports.

The news comes after the program fired two-year position coach Chris Kapilovic on Friday.

Klemm was an offensive analyst at Southern Cal last season under head coach Lincoln Riley. Before that, he served as Bill Belichick’s offensive line coach in 2023 with the New England Patriots, where his unit gave up 48 sacks.

Klemm spent the 2022 season at Oregon, where he served as the offensive line coach and run-game coordinator. Before that, he resided in Pittsburgh for three seasons, where he served in several different coaching roles for the Steelers.

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning called Klemm “one of the very best offensive line coaches in the country.”

The seasoned coach also has experience as a player. He played college football at Hawaii and was good enough to start at left tackle in the Senior Bowl, eventually getting selected with the 46th pick in the 2000 NFL Draft by New England.

Klemm spent five years with the Patriots, appearing in 26 games with 10 starts. He was also a member of three Super Bowl-winning teams during his time playing in New England. Klemm then spent his last professional season with the Packers in 2005, starting eight games for the Packers.

One of his former players, Chukwuma Okorafor, a former Steelers offensive lineman, praised Klemm for his coaching, calling him “a mentor and a friend.”

“The small details matter to him. I would use the word passionate. If you meet him, he is not a very loud person at all, but the passion comes out on the field, and I think he knows exactly when to put his foot on the gas,” Okorafor said.

The potential hire comes after the Alabama offensive line struggled mightily in 2025 under Kapilovic. The unit handicapped a run game that featured a ton of running back talent and failed to protect quarterback Ty Simpson at times throughout the season.

Klemm will be tasked with assisting in a complete rebuild of the offensive line. The group will head into 2026 with just one returning starter, Michael Carroll, who took over the right tackle spot as a freshman last season.

The rest of the unit will consist of returners with little to no sample sizes in Will Sanders and Jackson Lloyd, along with the notable transfer additions of Ty Haywood (Michigan), Nick Brooks (Texas) and Jayvin James (Mississippi State).

Klemm will have his work cut out for him upon his arrival in Tuscaloosa, but perhaps his experience playing and coaching the offensive line will bring some stability next season.
