Island Grove will once again welcome a true baseball legend Saturday, with 9-time MLB All Star Gary Sheffield taking the stage at the annual Breakfast of Champions.
The annual fundraiser kicks off at 8 a.m. at Island Grove Regional Park, 421 15th. Ave. in Greeley.
Tickets are $20 and are available at Garretson’s Sports Center, 3817 W. 10th St., Rogue Play Trampoline Park, 5800 W. 18th St., and Sears Real Estate, 2021 Clubhouse Dr., Suite 100. Tickets are also available online at NoCoFriendsofBaseball.com.
Sheffield played 22 seasons with eight teams, retiring with 2,689 hits and 509 home runs — making him just one of 25 players in history to hit over 500 career home runs.
Sheffield was the National League batting champion in 1992, hitting a career-best .330 with the San Diego Padres. He also won a World Series with the Florida Marlins (now the Miami Marlins) in 1997.
Friends of Baseball is a nonprofit dedicated to creating opportunities to play baseball in Northern Colorado. All proceeds benefit Friends of Baseball youth baseball programs.
