Mayor Bass joined community members, and City Councilmembers Imelda Padilla and Adrin Nazarian, to kickoff Shine LA in Sun Valley — an outdoor event where volunteers cleanup, and bring more green to, their neighborhoods.
Since it was launched citywide in April, Shine LA has brought together more than 2,000 Angelenos for a day of service in more than 30 neighborhoods across L.A. Volunteers have planted trees, painted utility boxes and picked up litter across the city.
On Saturday, Bass continued her Shine LA movement in Sun Valley, Del Rey and Baldwin Hills. “With the World Cup starting in June, we are inviting Angelenos to join the effort to get our city ready when the global spotlight turns to Los Angeles,” Bass said in a prepared statement. “Through community-driven volunteer opportunities, Shine LA is inspiring residents to take pride in the places they call home, creating a stronger, more unified city that’s ready to welcome the world.”
