Police are still searching for a 15-year-old boy who is missing from Long Island and was last seen two weeks ago in New York City.
Thomas Medlin left Stony Brook School on Friday, January 9, around 3:30 p.m. and got onto a train heading to New York City, the Suffolk County Police Department said in a statement. He was last seen at Grand Central Station in midtown Manhattan around 5:30 p.m. that same day.
As part of the search, police shared a photo of Medlin from his family and another snapshot taken from surveillance footage that showed him on the subway platform in Manhattan when he was last photographed.
The teenager is white, stands 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. Police said he was last seen wearing a black jacket with red stripes, dark sweatpants with white stripes and glasses, and he was also carrying a black backpack.

While his whereabouts are not currently known, it was previously reported that Medlin was possibly traveling to meet someone he met on the online platform Roblox.
“We share everyone’s hope for Thomas Medlin’s safe return, and our thoughts are with him and his family,” Roblox said in a statement regarding his disappearance, per ABC 7. “We conducted a thorough review to support law enforcement’s investigation and found no attempts to direct him to an off-platform communication method or sharing of off-platform contact information, including usernames, phone numbers or other communication methods. We will continue to provide any assistance we can.”
Medlin’s mother, Eva Yan, has since issued a statement pleading for her son to come home.
“We love him so much. We want him to even send us a message. Whoever person he’s staying with, have a kind heart and let us parents know … he’s safe, nobody’s going to harm him,” Yan said during the Tuesday, January 27, episode of Fox & Friends.
She continued, “Whenever he’s ready to come home, let us know where to pick him up. And he’s not in trouble at all. We love him more than anything in [our lives].”
Yan also responded to investigators’ theory that Medlin traveled to New York City to meet someone he met online, telling local outlet News 12 that it was “completely out of character” for him.
“Everyone loves him,” Yan continued. “We just want him to be safe.”

The concerned mother said that Medlin’s family and friends have been searching for him nearly every day since he went missing. Amid their efforts, they have organized different search parties across Long Island and New York City.
Police have also told the family that Medlin’s last known locations were near Cherry and Rutgers streets in Lower Manhattan, as well as near Sands and Jay streets in Brooklyn later that day, according to News 12.
Police are asking that anyone who may have seen Medlin or has information about his whereabouts contact the Suffolk County Police Department Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452 or call 911. The investigation into Medlin’s disappearance remains ongoing.
