Squibb portrays Eleanor Morgenstein, an elderly woman who moves to New York to live with her daughter, Lisa (Jessica Hecht). Out of loneliness, Eleanor forms a friendship with a young journalist, Nina Davis (Erin Kellyman), and shares her harrowing story of surviving the Holocaust decades earlier. The problem is that Eleanor isn’t a Holocaust survivor; she simply stole the story of her late roommate, Bessie Stern (Rita Zohar). That kind of lie draws too much attention to remain a secret for long, and it may cost Eleanor everything she has left if the truth comes out.
