ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The main area of snow that brought a general 8 to 12 inches of snow to the region has moved off to the east. Behind that storm a stronger breeze will develop today from the northwest. That wind will kick up some lake effect snow at times this morning into the afternoon. No major amounts are expected but another fluffy 1 to 3 inches of snow is likely, especially for areas closer to Rt. 104. Gusts 20-30mph will cause some localized blowing and drifting of the new snow and also send the feel like windchill well below zero into tonight. A more organized band of lake snow overnight may bring a few inches near the lake into parts of the eastside and Wayne County before lifting into the Tug Hill early tomorrow morning.
Looking ahead to Tuesday and Wednesday, bitter cold conditions will persist with occasional snow showers and local lake flakes. Snow amounts midweek will be relatively light with just a couple fluffy inches here and there. The cold will continue through the week into the weekend. One thing to watch will be a possible coastal storm Sunday. At this time, storm looks to stay to our east but will need to monitor closely.
