No. 3 Alabama gymnastics hosted No. 7 Missouri for the home opener of the 2026 season Friday. The Crimson Tide posted a total score of 197.5 to the Tigers’ 197.225.

“It’s great to see that we had a season high score,” head coach Ashley Johnston said. “Honestly, it didn’t feel like that in moments because I think this team’s ceiling is incredibly high. I think they earned every half-tenth out there tonight.”

Rotation 1

As the home team, Alabama competed in Olympic order, starting on the vault. On the vault, Alabama made a score of 49.375. Missouri made a score of 49.25 on the uneven bars.

For the Crimson Tide, freshman Jasmine Cawley went in the lead-off position and scored a 9.925, Alabama’s highest score for the rotation. Cawley took the vault event title.

“A lot of our upper classmen have really poured in and taught our freshmen,” Johnston said. “Our freshmen are buying in and are just excited about the culture and what we’re building.”

Rotation 2

For rotation two, Alabama competed on the uneven bars. On the bars, the Crimson Tide posted a 49.45 to bring its total to 98.825. Missouri posted a 49.2 on the vault to bring its total to 98.45.

Sophomore Chloe LaCoursiere posted a 9.975 on the bars, meaning one judge gave her a 10 and the other a 9.95. This was Alabama’s highest uneven bars score. LaCoursiere took the uneven bars event title.

“I am just grateful to keep competing out there with this team,” LaCoursiere said. “I just go out there, stay in my tempo, my rhythm, and give it all I got and then stick the dismount.”

Rotation 3

The Crimson Tide was on the balance beam for the third rotation and made a score of 49.3 to bring its total to 148.125. The Tigers posted a 49.375 on the floor to bring its total to 147.825.

On the balance beam, senior Gabby Gladieux and LaCoursiere each posted a 9.9 to mark Alabama’s highest balance beam scores. The balance beam title went to Missouri’s Railey Jackson and Addison Lawrence, who each posted a 9.95.

Rotation 4

For Alabama’s final rotation, the team was on the floor. Before the rotation started, Alabama gymnastics got the crowd hyped for the final event of the evening. Spectators got on their feet and danced and sang to the “YMCA.”

Alabama scored a 49.375 on the floor, and Missouri posted a 49.4 on the balance beam. In the anchor position, Gladieux posted a 9.975 after the crowd’s obvious disappointment at one judge giving her a 9.95. This landed Gladieux the floor and all-around title.

“I like to keep it simple,” Gladieux said. “I just do my average, everything I do in the gym, rinse and repeat. And knowing that my teammates have my back, it makes my job pretty easy.”

Alabama gymnastics will be back in action next Friday at home against Oregon State. The meet is set to start at 6:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on SEC Network+.
