NCAA releases statement after Dabo Swinney accuses Ole Miss of tampering for transfer ...Middle East

News by : (SATURDAY DOWN SOUTH) -

When the College Football Playoff concluded with Indiana’s national championship, some folks probably expected the college football news cycle to slow down. For now, though, it’s still churning as if it’s October, thanks to Dabo Swinney.

On Friday, Swinney absolutely unloaded on Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding when discussing linebacker Luke Ferrelli’s recent flip from the Tigers to the Rebels. He told reporters he was “not going to let someone flat-out tamper with [Clemson]” and that he’d “turn you in” if you did.

Swinney concluded by saying he’d “let the NCAA do its job.” On Friday, On3’s Pete Nakos released a statement from the NCAA on the matter. Jon Duncan, the NCAA VP of Enforcement, said the institution will, “investigate any credible allegations of tampering and expect full cooperation from all involved as is required by NCAA rules.”

Swinney has never been a fan of the transfer portal, preferring internal development over marketplace bids. Clemson had its worst season since 2010 last year, finishing just 7-6. He has dipped his toes in the portal’s choppy waters this offseason after absorbing that campaign, landing 9 transfers. The Tigers will open their 2026 schedule at LSU — in Lane Kiffin’s own Tigers debut — on Sept. 5.
