Bournemouth vs Liverpool Prediction: Can Cherries Pick Off Slot’s Reds? ...Middle East

News by : (The Analyst) -

Liverpool are considered favourites by the Opta supercomputer when they travel to Bournemouth on Saturday. Look ahead to the game at the Vitality Stadium with our Bournemouth vs Liverpool prediction and preview.

Bournemouth vs Liverpool: The Key Stats

The Opta Supercomputer ranks Liverpool as slight favourites, with a win probability of 43.7% to Bournemouth’s 31.1%. Liverpool are on the longest current unbeaten streak in the Premier League (10). Bournemouth have won just once in their past 13 top-flight outings.

Liverpool will be trying to simultaneously protect a 10-game unbeaten Premier League run and get themselves back in the domestic winning column when they travel to face Bournemouth.

The Reds are unbeaten in their last 10 Premier League games, which represents the longest run of any team in the top flight (W4 D6), ahead of Saturday’s contest at the Vitality Stadium.

However, Liverpool have racked up four consecutive league draws, having last gone on a longer streak of league stalemates in October/November 1980 (5).

Indeed, each of those draws have come in Liverpool’s four Premier League games to start 2026. In top-flight history, there have only been two teams to have had a longer run of draws from the start of a calendar year – Southampton in 1995 (5), and Tottenham in 1999 (6).

Liverpool did earn an impressive 3-0 win at Marseille in the Champions League on Wednesday, but Arne Slot’s side have failed to score in four different Premier League games this season, a tally that matches how many they had in 2023-24 (three) and 2024-25 (one) combined.

If there are goals in this one, though, perhaps they should be expected to come in the second half. Only Sunderland games have seen fewer first-half goals (18) than Liverpool matches this season (19, F10 A9), but the Reds’ games have seen more goals after the break than any other side (43, F23 A20).

Florian Wirtz made his Premier League debut for Liverpool against Bournemouth in the season-opener back in August, a dramatic 4-2 win for the Reds, but he did not score his first goal in the competition until 27 December. However, the Germany international is finding his feet in England, and has either scored (3) or assisted (1) a goal in four of his last six top-flight appearances, with those goal involvements being worth six points to the club.

Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth are in a prolonged sticky patch, winning just one of their last 13 Premier League games (D6 L6) – a 3-2 win over Tottenham earlier this month. Indeed, since the start of this run in November, only Wolves (6) and Burnley (4) have earned fewer points than Bournemouth (9), with the Cherries conceding more goals than any other side (30).

Moreover, Bournemouth have lost 10 of their last 11 Premier League contests against the reigning champions, the exception being a 2-1 home win against Manchester City last season. Prior to that, they had won three of their first six against the reigning champions (D1 L2).

Marcus Tavernier was on target from the penalty spot as Bournemouth drew 1-1 with Brighton on Monday, his fifth Premier League goal of the season to equal his best goalscoring return in a single campaign (also five in 2022-23).

However, the forward suffered a hamstring injury in that game and is unavailable for this clash, a further blow for Iraola who is already without former Liverpool winger Ben Gannon-Doak, as well as Justin Kluivert, Enes Unal, and David Brooks.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will be without long-term absentees Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni and Alexander Isak, while Federico Chiesa is a doubt having withdrawn from the substitutes’ bench in the warm-up in Marseille. Ibrahima Konaté could also miss the game after being absent on Wednesday due to a family emergency.

Bournemouth vs Liverpool Head-to-Head

Liverpool have an exceptional record against Bournemouth in recent times, winning 12 of their last 13 Premier League games against them.

The solitary defeat in that run did come away from home, though, with the Reds losing 1-0 at the Vitality Stadium in March 2023.

Bournemouth’s wretched record against Liverpool is exacerbated by the fact they have conceded 52 goals in their 17 Premier League contests against them. That is the joint-most they have shipped against any Premier League side (also 52 against Man City).

The Reds won 4-2 on the opening day of the season, with goals from Hugo Ekitiké and Cody Gakpo seemingly putting them in control at Anfield, before a brace from Antoine Semenyo drew Bournemouth level. Late goals from Chiesa and Mohamed Salah handed the hosts the three points, though.

Bournemouth vs Liverpool Prediction

Liverpool’s Premier League record against Bournemouth may be exemplary, but the Opta supercomputer views this one as a close contest.

The visitors are considered the slight favourites with a 43.7% win percentage, while the Cherries are rated as a 31.1% shot. A draw is a 25.2% probability.

In terms of the season overall, Liverpool currently reside in fourth place in the actual table, and that is where they are most likely to place come the end of the campaign as things stand (31.0%).

Bournemouth are 15th, and their most likely final position is 14th (14.1%).
