ROCHESTER, N.Y. — On Saturday, around 7:30 p.m., RPD responded to reports of a shooting on Lake Avenue after a dispute between a victim and another person.
Police say the shooting was caused by a dispute between the victim and a third party, to which the suspect intervened and shot the victim with a handgun.
When officers responded to the scene, they found a man, 48, suffering from a gunshot wound in the upper body. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital and has since been upgraded to being stable.
After RPD executed a search warrant, they suspected Edworth Morris of shooting the victim due to finding a handgun in a nearby apartment.
Morris was arrested by officers on Monday after a traffic stop on Laken Avenue and taken to the Monroe County Jail. He was charged with assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the second and third degree.
He was arraigned on Tuesday morning in Rochester City Court.
