Carpenter is nominated for six Grammys this year — album of the year and best pop vocal album, both for Man’s Best Friend; and record of the year, song of the year, best pop solo performance and best music video, all for “Manchild.”
“Manchild” entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 1 in June, becoming Carpenter’s first single to debut in the top spot. Man’s Best Friend entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1 in September. Short n’ Sweet had achieved the same feat in September 2024.
Carpenter being the first performer announced for the Grammys is just the latest sign of her superstardom. In February 2025, she was chosen to perform a cold open on SNL50: The Anniversary Special, when she teamed with Paul Simon to perform his classic “Homeward Bound.”
The 68th annual Grammy Awards will air live on Sunday, Feb. 1, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS and will be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+. Trevor Noah is set to host the show for the sixth consecutive — and final — year. The comedian will be the first person to host six consecutive Grammy telecasts since crooner Andy Williams hosted the first seven live telecasts from 1971 to 1977.
The 2026 Grammy Awards will be produced by Fulwell Entertainment for the Recording Academy. Ben Winston, Raj Kapoor, Jesse Collins and Noah are executive producers.
