It was a great afternoon on Saturday for the Harvard Crimson, as both the men’s and women’s teams swept Penn and Boston College to remain undefeated this season. Despite losing to Harvard, Penn managed to post victories over BC on both sides.

Men’s Recap

Harvard University (7–0, 5–0 Ivy) dominated the meet, defeating the University of Pennsylvania 207–92 and Boston College 244–50. They set the tone early with a 200 medley relay victory as the squad of Adriano Arioti, Joshua Chen, Maro Miknic, and Sonny Wang combined for a time of 1:26.74.

First-years William Mulgrew and Pablo Martinez then posted a 1–2 finish in the 1000 freestyle, with Mulgrew touching first in 8:55.13 to keep the Crimson ahead.

Adriano Arioti was a triple winner for the Crimson as he dominated the 100 back (48.30), 200 back (1:42.02 PB), and 400 IM (3:53.88). Harvard also saw individual victories from Tristan Dalbey in the 200 freestyle (1:38.05), David Schmitt in the 200 butterfly (1:43.89), and Maro Miknic in both the 100 free (46.50) and 100 fly (49.10). Shortly after winning the 1000 freestyle, Mulgrew completed the distance sweep as he also won the 500 freestyle (4:22.90).

To put an exclamation mark on the victory, the 400 freestyle relay of Evan Croley, Felipe Baffico, Patrick Gattnar, and David Schmitt finished first in 3:24.31.

Diving was a key factor for Harvard as Raphael Tourette swept both boards (1-meter 317.50, 3-meter 331.35), with Harvard claiming the top four places on both events.

Despite falling to Harvard, the Penn men (4–5) split the meet, defeating Boston College. The team saw several highlights, especially in the breaststroke events. Watson Nguyen led the Penn men with a victory in the 100 breast (53.09). Peter Whittington was also a standout, taking the 200 breast (1:56.30) and finishing third in the 400 IM (3:55.51), while Eddie Jin placed second in both the 100 back (48.53) and 100 free (44.54).

Although the Boston College men were outmatched by their Ivy League opponents, they showed depth. Nick Fabian was the top finisher for the Eagles as he claimed fourth in the 1000 freestyle (9:34.93) and sixth in the 400 IM (4:04.90).

Women’s Recap

The Harvard University women (8–0) defeated Penn 199–101 and Boston College 251–45 to continue their undefeated season.

Kicking-off the session, the 200 medley relay of Anya Mostek, Stephanie Iannaccone, Sydney Lu, and Blythe Wieclawek touched first in 1:41.88.

Carolina Daher then led the Crimson in a 1–2 finish across both distance events as she won the 1000 freestyle (10:03.33) and 500 freestyle (4:55.81), narrowly edging Alexandra Bastone in both races.

Anya Mostek was a tri-winner on the day as she captured victories in the 100 back (53.20), 50 free (23.60), and 200 back (1:58.40). Other key winners included Aliana Marakovic in the 100 breast (1:04.07), Hazel Mouhidin in the 200 fly (1:59.78), and Kiley Wilhelm in the 100 fly (53.30).

Harvard also swept the 200 breast podium led by Stephanie Iannaccone (2:17.02) and went 1–2 in the 200 IM as Iannaccone finished in a time of 2:03.58 and Gabi Augustyn touched 2nd in 2:04.10.

To close out the session, the 400 free relay of Aliana Marakovic, Sarah Beckman, Isabella Alas, and Blythe Wieclawek finished first in 3:24.31.

Harvard also swept the diving, with Nina Janmyr taking the top spot on both the 1-meter (288.60) and 3-meter (313.80) boards, with Samantha Holtz finishing second on the 3-meter (287.90).

The Penn women continued a strong season, moving to 9–2 as they split the meet, defeating Boston College. For Penn, Kayla Fu won the 100 free (50.70) and 200 free (1:49.15).

Other standout performers for Penn included Anna Moehn, who finished second in the 1000 freestyle (10:10.71), and Kate Levensten, who contributed a second-place finish in the 100 backstroke (54.44). Kate Handley showcased her power in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.75) en route to another top finish.

Penn also had strong performances in both relays, finishing as the runners-up to Harvard both times. The 200 medley relay team of Kate Levensten, Kate Handley, Brianna Cong, and Amy Qin finished second in 1:43.90, while the 400 freestyle relay team of Connie Wang, Amber Smith, Brianna Cong, and Amy Qin also finished second in 3:26.19.

The Boston College women were swept by both Ivy opponents but recorded competitive finishes, including several top-five and top-six placements across individual and relay events.
